The Solent Cluster member, ExxonMobil, has been awarded £6m by the Department for Transport (DfT) to assess the feasibility of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production at Fawley.
The study will be led by ExxonMobil and will explore and inform a range of potential SAF production technologies.
Output from the study will be shared with the Government to assist its planning and policy development for biofuel and its potential contribution to Net Zero.
The award is a strong indication of the important role that The Solent Cluster could play in helping reduce emissions across the region and beyond and illustrates the potential impact of The Solent Cluster decarbonisation initiative.
